MEET MARGARETE

When Margarete's husband was placed in a care facility, her life changed dramatically. Bound to a wheelchair, she couldn't leave the house or cook real meals. For years, she only ate canned food. But Margarete's long wait for nutrition — and friendship — ended when she met Meals on Wheels volunteer Valerie Vasquez. "She's just the best, nicest person you could ever meet," Margarete said. "She has brought me a joy I didn't know I would ever have again."
