MEALS ON WHEELS AMERICA CONDEMNS CONTINUED HATE CRIMES AGAINST THE AAPI COMMUNITY
Mar 19, 2021
In recent weeks, we’ve seen escalating acts of racism and hate play out in communities, and the significant harm it's causing. As an organization dedicated to fighting for an end to hunger and isolation, we stand up with all organizations calling for an end to the racial violence that has plagued many of our communities of color since our country’s inception. We are also proud to be a part of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO) – a coalition representing 69 national organizations working to preserve and strengthen the well-being of older Americans – in condemning hate crimes and acts of violence, racism and ageism targeting Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) older adults. LCAO stands with the AAPI community and urges immediate action to ensure both clear and accessible means of reporting these attacks and systemic solutions aimed at confronting anti-AAPI bias.
