SPARK THE MOVEMENT EVENT RECOGNIZED A VITAL FUNDER AND INSPIRED NEW SUPPORT
Alexandria, VA, October 22, 2015 – Meals on Wheels America recognized Caesars Foundation for its steadfast support of America’s seniors last evening at a reception at the National Restaurant Association headquarters in Washington, DC. Spark the Movement gathered lawmakers, corporations, nonprofit partners and individuals to honor Caesars Foundation’s commitment and spark new support.
“We are so fortunate that Caesars Foundation shares our vision of an America in which all seniors live nourished lives with independence and dignity,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO of Meals on Wheels America. “Over the last 13 years, more than $5 million in support from the Caesars Foundation has helped to deliver the nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks that enable seniors to remain at home, where they want to be.”
Since 2002, Caesars Foundation has supported the annual March for Meals awareness campaign, funded groundbreaking research and contributed a total of 56 vehicles to Meals on Wheels America Members across 18 states, providing new and reliable ways to reach more seniors in their communities. Nearly $25 million of the more than $70 million the Foundation has contributed across the globe since its inception has benefited organizations addressing the needs of older individuals.
“Remaining committed to the health and wellness of seniors is important to us,” said Janet Beronio, Chair of Caesars Foundation. “Our goal is to do what we can to make a positive impact in all the communities where we operate. That’s why we are so pleased to work alongside Meals on Wheels America in its fight to end senior hunger.”
Spark the Movement was presented by Subaru of America and Meals on Wheels America Board Member Lynn Smith. The event raised nearly $50,000 through sponsorships and silent auction donations to further support Meals on Wheels America’s mission of empowering local community programs to improve the health and quality of life of the seniors they serve.
